Uncertainty – The Tales of Emeric

Premieres on 9 October at Culture Centre Caisa

Emil Nordman’s upcoming work Uncertainty – The Tales of Emeric s an emotional and dynamic performance that draws the audience into the world of the warrior Emeric and into the depths of the human mind.

The piece, whose movement language is inspired by fencing and martial arts, explores psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung’s concept of shadow work. In a mythical fantasy world, it raises questions that resonate with us all: How well do we really know ourselves? Do we truly have control over who we are? Can we conquer the darkness that hides within our souls and find our inner light?

Uncertainty – The Tales of Emeric is based on a script written by Nordman. It's a fictional work, inspired by Nordman's own experiences.

In 2024 Nordman was selected for the OAF Academy’s artist program. The OAF Academy, run by the Outsider Art Festival, supports outsider artists and creates a new operational model that enables artists to create artworks as commissions. The performance is produced as part of the OAF Academy program and created in collaboration with DuvTeatern.

Nordman plays the lead role . The performance is directed by Antti Silvennoinen. The team also includes actor Ville Seivo, sound designer Antero Kemppi, and costume designer Erika Turunen.

The production is supported by the Kone Foundation, the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, and Konstsamfundet.
